Fort Memorial was founded by Gordon and Cindy Kadatz in 2007.  Gordon began his career in funeral service in 1973, graduating from the Alberta School of Mortuary Science in 1975, becoming a licensed embalmer and funeral director.  Cindy began her career in 2003, becoming a licensed funeral director, a graduate of the Canadian College of Funeral Service in 2007.  Gordon brought funeral service to Fort Saskatchewan in 1984 and has served this community since then. 

Stars of the Century are people who have made significant contributions to the enhancement of the quality of life in Fort Saskatchewan.  Seventy-eight individuals were awarded this honour to celebrate the City of Fort Saskatchewan’s 100th anniversary of incorporation as a town.  Gordon Kadatz was awarded as one of the Stars of the Century.

Gordon and Cindy have been awarded Ambassador’s of Fort Saskatchewan, for proudly promoting the City of Fort Saskatchewan.  This award was presented to them on Canada Day by Fort Saskatchewan’s Mayor, Jim Sheasgreen and Alberta’s Premier, Honourable Ed Stelmach

Fort Saskatchewan’s Chamber of Commerce celebrates small business awards each year.  Fort Memorial was chosen for Customer Service Award and Gordon and Cindy Kadatz received a letter, “small business is the backbone of our community and we are very fortunate to have outstanding business people like you in Fort Saskatchewan,” from the Mayor, Jim Sheasgreen.

For Gord and Cindy, the funeral business is not just a job, it is our chosen profession.  For service and value always above what you may expect, the only name you need to know is Kadatz.
